World Cup Play-offs: Ukraine - Greece (18 nov)

·

Info

Ukraine
  • Ukraine looked like the better team in the first match, and they managed to get a good 0-0 result.
  • Skipper Andriy Shevchenko, who operated more or less as a lone striker on Saturday, can expect more support from Artem Milevskiy and Oleg Gusev on home soil.
  • 50 000 fans will create great atmosphere for the hosts and the very clold weather could be the other key factor for them.
  • With 20 goals in group-play, the Ukrainians ranked near the top as one of the better attacking units in the European qualifiers.
  • Midfielder Taras Mykhalyk is doubtful, while defender Grigoriy Yarmash and strikers Andriy Voronin and Serhiy Nazarenko are out.

Greece
  • The visitors don’t have enough attacking potential at the moment and they are set to adopt defensive approach in this game.
  • Greece look to qualify for their first World Cup since their maiden appearance at the 1994 Finals in the United States.
  • The Olympiacos defender Avraam Papadopoulos is doubtful, while Vasilis Torosidis, goalkeeper Kostas Chalkias and Giourkas Seitaridis are out. Traianos Dellas declined an invitation.

The chances of Greece progressing don't look great, but that doesn't mean their fans should be denied the chance to bet freely on the outcome. The EU's opposition to an open gambling market means Greek gamblers are in the same boat as the French and Dutch, and look how poor the odds they were offered last week are! http://tiny.cc/Copb6 If you believe gamblers deserve the basic consumer right to an open market, please support the Right2bet petition!
